Classification and principle of steam trap

There are many kinds of steam traps, each with different performance. When choosing a steam trap, you should first select its characteristics to meet the operation of the steam heating equipment, and then consider other objective conditions, so that choosing the steam trap you need is correct and effective. The basic function of the steam trap is to discharge the air in the steam system, the cold non-condensable gas and the condensed water produced after the use of steam as soon as possible; at the same time, it automatically prevents the leakage of steam.

The principle of the steam trap:

The function of the steam trap is to automatically remove non-condensable gases such as steam condensate and air in heating equipment or steam pipelines, and not to leak steam. Because the steam trap has the function of blocking steam and draining water, it can make the steam heating equipment evenly heat, and make full use of the latent heat of steam to prevent water hammer in the steam pipeline.


Classification of steam traps:

According to the driving mode of the opening and closing parts, it can be divided into mechanical type, thermostatic type and thermodynamic type.

The mechanical type can be divided into floating ball type, floating bucket type, inverted bucket type and so on.

The thermostatic type can be divided into bimetallic sheet type, bellows type, liquid expansion type, bellows type, diaphragm type, etc.

Thermal power type can be divided into disc type, pulse type, orifice type and so on.
