What are the consequences of a wrong trap selection?

What kind of impact will the wrong type of steam trap bring to our industrial operation? In the selection of the type, errors in the amount of drainage, working pressure difference, valve seat size, and connection size will cause the equipment to fail to work.

Drainage capacity: The discharge energy of the drain valve is not enough, which will cause the condensed water not to be discharged in time and reduce the heating efficiency of the heating equipment. (Due to a large amount of air and low-temperature condensed water and low inlet pressure when driving, the trap is overloaded. At this time, the drain of the trap is required to be larger than that during normal operation, so that the condensed water can be discharged as soon as possible and the temperature of the heating equipment can be raised rapidly. )

Working pressure difference: There is a big difference between the nominal pressure of the trap and the working pressure. Therefore, the displacement of the trap should be selected according to the working pressure difference. The working pressure difference is the difference between the working pressure in front of the trap minus the back pressure at the outlet of the trap.

Seat size: The amount of hydrophobicity varies greatly for different "seat sizes". For mechanical traps, the appropriate "seat size" should be selected according to the coordinate curves corresponding to the maximum working pressure difference and the maximum displacement of the process conditions. The "valve seat number" cannot be determined by the nominal pressure. If the "valve seat number" is selected incorrectly, the trap may not work or the equipment may accumulate water, which will affect the normal operation of the equipment.

Connection size: The connection diameter of the trap cannot represent the size of the drainage capacity. The drainage capacity of the same type of drainage valve may vary greatly; therefore, the selection of the drainage valve must be based on the technological conditions of the equipment, the working pressure difference before and after the drainage, and the drainage capacity. It is the correct choice to choose the specification and size of the trap according to the parameters provided by the trap manufacturer.
